This event, hosted by Gyeongbuk Province, was attended by more than 150 people, including the Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs, hospital directors of responsible medical institutions, and officials from related organizations.
The city was awarded this commendation for its leading efforts in providing community-based support for discharged patients and for being highly recognized for moving beyond the conventional medical department-centered cooperation model by establishing a welfare department-led collaboration system.
In particular, Pohang City was the only local government whose welfare department was selected for this award, drawing significant attention as a case in which the welfare department actively participated in the medical institution-centered cooperation system and successfully implemented an integrated care system through organic linkage between medical and care services.
Vice Mayor Jang Sanggil stated, "This award is very meaningful as it is the result of Pohang City's pioneering efforts to realize community-integrated care based on cooperation between welfare and medical services." He added, "We will continue to do our best to further develop a community-tailored health care system in which public health, medical services, and welfare organically cooperate, so that citizens can receive more stable and high-quality services."
