Idus Invests 4.7 Billion KRW in On-Demand Printing Company Betterway Systems

From Various Printed Materials to Merchandise, Small-Batch and Multi-Variety Production Now Possible... Anticipation for Enhanced Creator Collaboration
Full-Scale Internalization of Production for Idus, Tumblbug, and Tenbyten Creators

Backpackr, the operator of the handmade commerce platform Idus, announced on July 29 that it has invested a total of 4.7 billion KRW in Betterway Systems, a company specializing in on-demand digital printing and merchandise production.

This investment was made by acquiring both new and existing shares of Betterway Systems. Earlier this year, Betterway Systems secured a 4 billion KRW investment from Gravity Private Equity, and with this latest strategic investment, it has obtained additional growth capital.

Betterway Systems, which operates 'Redprinting & Press,' has established a manufacturing system capable of customized design and small-batch, multi-variety production for over 380 types of products, ranging from traditional printed materials such as business cards, promotional materials, and stickers to apparel, accessories, and lifestyle products.

With its investment in Betterway Systems, Backpackr has further internalized its commerce value chain, connecting production for Idus creators, Tumblbug creators, and Tenbyten brand partners. Through collaboration with Redprinting, Backpackr has secured a production partner without minimum order quantity requirements, and has also established a structure that allows for customization throughout the post-order process, including production, packaging, and delivery.

Going forward, Backpackr plans to provide creators with benefits such as production cost discounts, dedicated operational staff, and diversification of private brand product manufacturing, thereby flexibly supporting the production aspects of creative activities across each platform.

Kim Donghwan, CEO of Backpackr, stated, "This investment is a decision to bring on-demand production infrastructure into the creator ecosystem, moving beyond a simple outsourcing relationship. We will continue to actively participate in management so that creators across platforms such as Idus, Tumblbug, and Tenbyten can efficiently address their common need for small-batch, multi-variety production."
