Kim Dongil, Mayor of Boryeong City in South Chungcheong Province, has begun a full-scale campaign to secure next year's government budget by making consecutive visits to the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The Boryeong City government announced on the 29th that Mayor Kim met with key officials, including Yoo Byeongseo, Director General for Budget at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Kim Minjae, Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, on the 24th and 28th to request government-level support for Boryeong’s core pending projects.

This visit aimed to reflect Boryeong City's strategic projects in the central government budget, in line with the new policy direction following the launch of the new administration.

Mayor Kim specifically requested focused investment from the Ministry of Economy and Finance for the recovery of the local economy, which has been struggling due to the early closure of coal-fired power plants, for energy transition, and for the development of Boryeong as a marine tourism city.

The proposed projects include: ▲ construction of a new Boryeong Police Training Center ▲ revitalization of the tourism industry in abandoned mining areas ▲ advancement of convenience and safety technologies for future vehicles ▲ establishment of a hydrogen gas turbine test and research center.

To the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, he requested special grant tax support for long-awaited local projects such as the expansion of the Boryeong Sports Park soccer field and the widening and paving of the Sagijeom section of Local Road No. 10. He also shared plans for the creation of the 'Oseom Islands' and for attracting the 2027 Island Biennale international event, calling for cooperation at the national level.

Mayor Kim stated, "The year 2026 will be an important turning point for Boryeong City," and emphasized, "Securing the government budget is crucial for the region's future and growth engine, so we will focus all administrative efforts to achieve tangible results."

Meanwhile, the city plans to strengthen cooperation with South Chungcheong Province and the National Assembly, and to operate a dedicated camp during the budget review stage to make every effort to secure the budget until the end.
