Nonghyup Employee in Pocheon Robs Home of Elderly Customer

A man in his 30s, who works for Nonghyup, is under police investigation for allegedly breaking into an apartment in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, threatening an elderly couple with a weapon, and stealing valuables.

On July 28, the Pocheon Police Station announced that they are investigating a man in his 30s, identified as A, on charges of aggravated robbery. At around 4 a.m. on the same day, A allegedly broke into a third-floor apartment in Eoryong-dong, Pocheon, threatened an elderly couple in their 80s with a weapon, tied them up with cable ties, and fled with valuables including jewelry and cash worth tens of millions of won. During the incident, an elderly man in his 80s, identified as B, injured his arm and was taken to the hospital.

The police analyzed the apartment's CCTV footage and confirmed that the suspect was an employee at a local Nonghyup branch. They went to the branch and arrested A. B is a customer of the same local Nonghyup branch. The police believe that A likely planned the crime in advance after learning that B had withdrawn about 300 million won in cash earlier this month, and they are continuing their investigation.
