According to U.S. entertainment outlet People and the UK’s Metro on July 25 (local time), Nicole Kidman has recently applied for a residency permit from Portuguese immigration authorities.

On the same day, Portuguese media outlet SIC Noticias also reported that Kidman was spotted on July 20 touring luxury real estate in an affluent suburb of Lisbon. This area is known to be popular among celebrities such as Hollywood actor George Clooney, Paris Hilton, and Princess Eugenie of the United Kingdom.

Kidman is expected to obtain long-term residency through the Portuguese government’s “Golden Visa” program, which grants residency rights to those who invest a certain amount in real estate. It has also been reported that Kidman and her husband, Keith Urban, already own a home in Lisbon.

The exact reason for Kidman’s application for Portuguese residency is not known. However, there is speculation that this could be another case of a Hollywood star’s “Trump avoidance migration” since President Trump’s inauguration.

Other stars who have left the United States after President Trump’s return to power include well-known comedian Rosie O’Donnell and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. DeGeneres, who relocated to the United Kingdom, recently confirmed in an interview that media reports stating she moved because of President Trump were true.

In the case of O’Donnell, who moved to Ireland, she openly expressed her conflict with President Trump. President Trump threatened on social media, stating, “O’Donnell is not beneficial to our great country,” and added that he was seriously considering revoking her citizenship. In response, O’Donnell shared a photo on Instagram of President Trump with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In addition, actor Richard Gere has moved to Spain with his family, and Eva Longoria, known for “Desperate Housewives,” has chosen to split her time between Mexico and Spain, stating, “America will become a frightening place.” Canadian director James Cameron has also expressed his intention to return to New Zealand.

However, People added that Kidman and her husband do not appear to have immediate plans to leave the United States and move permanently to Portugal, as her husband, singer Keith Urban, is currently on a nationwide tour in the United States.
