The families of the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster at Muan Airport have called for a thorough investigation into the accident ahead of the confirmation hearing for the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport nominee.

The 12·29 Muan Airport Jeju Air Passenger Plane Disaster Victims' Families Association (hereinafter referred to as 'the Association') held a press conference at the National Assembly's Communication Center on the 28th, demanding, "Kim Yoonduk, the nominee for Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, must put an end to the Ministry's repeated practices of concealing the truth, and take responsible action to identify the fundamental causes of the disaster and establish measures to prevent its recurrence."

The Association stated, "The Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board unilaterally notified us of the engine investigation results without clear evidence or explanation," and insisted, "The self-investigation method must be stopped immediately, and a transparent reinvestigation should begin."

They continued, "The Special Act on the 12·29 Passenger Plane Disaster explicitly guarantees the families' right to access information," and pointed out, "The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board are legally obligated to provide all original data to the families and must cooperate actively."

The Association also declared, "We will never tolerate any attempt to cover up the disaster with superficial announcements while ignoring the structural problems and lack of safety devices in the accident aircraft," and added, "It is both the right and responsibility of the families to reveal the truth and ensure that such a tragedy is never repeated. We will pursue the truth to the end."
