Teddy Valley Golf & Resort and the KPGA Tour held a signing ceremony for the tournament on the 28th. The event will take place for five years, from this year through 2029. This year's Tour Championship will be held over four days starting November 6. Only players ranked within the top 70 in Genesis Points are eligible to participate, and there will be no cut. The total prize money is 1.1 billion won.
Teddy Valley Golf & Resort has previously hosted several KLPGA Tour events, such as the BC Card Classic and Doosan We’ve Championship. This is the first time a KPGA Tour event will be held at the venue. Unusually for a domestic golf course, the fairways are planted with Bermuda grass, which is highly resistant to heat. When temperatures drop, ryegrass is overseeded to maintain a green color even in lower temperatures, ensuring consistent turf quality throughout the year. The course is renowned for this meticulous management.
The method of overseeding Bermuda grass with ryegrass is the same turf management secret used by Augusta National Golf Club, where the Masters is held. Teddy Valley Golf & Resort is located at an average altitude of 190 meters, making it less affected by fog and wind compared to other golf courses in Jeju. Kim Min, Vice Chairman of Teddy Valley Golf & Resort, stated, "We will prepare the best possible course so that KPGA Tour players can fully showcase their skills."
