On July 28, Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Ju Gwangdeok) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Byeokje Jungang Memorial Park (CEO Lee Wonkyung) at the City Hall's Integrity Room to enhance citizens' funeral welfare and improve funeral service convenience.

This agreement is the second citizen funeral welfare agreement, following the previous agreement with Gyeongchun Park Cemetery. Namyangju City has been continuously pursuing highly effective funeral policies based on its philosophy of ensuring dignity for citizens until their final moments.

Namyangju City has been developing effective alternatives to address the lack of funeral facilities in the metropolitan area and to alleviate the inconvenience caused by long-distance cremations outside the city.

Previously, through the agreement with Chuncheon Gyeongchun Park Cemetery, the city provided citizens with exclusive burial plots and discount benefits. With this new agreement, the funeral infrastructure has been further expanded.

Byeokje Jungang Memorial Park is located just one minute by car and five minutes on foot from Seoul Municipal Seunghwa Center (formerly Byeokje Crematorium), offering excellent accessibility.

As a result, the travel time from cremation to the enshrinement facility has been dramatically reduced, significantly easing both the time and psychological burden on bereaved families.

Under this agreement, bereaved families of the deceased who were registered residents of Namyangju City at the time of death can receive discounts when using the enshrinement facilities by submitting proof documents such as a resident registration abstract to Byeokje Jungang Memorial Park.

General citizens are eligible for a 10% discount, group contracts (three or more cases) receive a 15-20% discount, and recipients of basic livelihood support and national merit holders receive a 30% discount. The agreement will remain in effect for two years from the date of signing.

Mayor Ju Gwangdeok stated, "This agreement is a very important turning point in resolving inconveniences from the citizens' perspective and ensuring dignified funerals. We will continue to strengthen funeral welfare so that citizens can complete their final journey with dignity, and we will maintain stable funeral administration even during increased demand in the lunar leap month."

CEO Lee Wonkyung said, "Through cooperation with Namyangju City, we will provide citizens with the best facilities and services, and fully fulfill our responsibility as a space for remembrance and comfort."
