Search Operations at Paldang Dam in Namyangju
Drones and Boats Mobilized for Intensive Search
All-Out Effort for "Water Surface Search" at Paldang Dam
On the morning of July 28, monitoring and collection activities for floating debris were conducted at the Paldang Dam area in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, in order to search for missing persons and to clean up the environment.
This operation was carried out because a large amount of floating debris had recently flowed into the vicinity of Paldang Dam due to heavy rainfall, raising the possibility that traces of missing persons could be mixed in with the debris.
On this day, two drones and a boat were deployed to meticulously search the floating debris on the waters surrounding the dam, while a team of 10 monitoring personnel conducted real-time surveillance and collection operations on site. In particular, since the possibility of discovering missing persons was considered, the team focused on carefully checking each piece of debris during the search.
An official from the fire authorities stated, "This activity is meaningful not only for the humanitarian purpose of searching for missing persons, but also for promptly removing floating debris that could cause water pollution, thereby helping to clean up the Paldang Dam environment."
Paldang Dam is a protected water source area for the Seoul metropolitan region, making it important to block incoming pollutants and protect water quality. Authorities plan to continue similar search and cleanup operations in response to changes in water level and weather conditions in the future.
