Special class career camps and job challenge employment camps, which serve as a foundation for students to design their future career paths, are being held.

The Daejeon Special Education Center is running these programs for 65 middle and high school students in special classes from July 28 to August 1, during the summer vacation.

This camp has been organized in collaboration with the Daejeon Developmental Disabilities Training Center and the Daejeon Vocational Competency Development Institute. Its purpose is to strengthen career exploration and employment planning capabilities for middle and high school students in special education, as well as to enhance social skills, independence, and a sense of community.

The middle school career camp will be held from July 28 to July 30, with three groups of 15 students each day. The detailed activities include three types of job experiences that are helpful for career and employment: ▲Clothing store service (product sorting, organizing, packaging, removing security tags, customer service), ▲Linen care assistance (organizing medical supplies, changing bed sheets, collecting laundry, etc.), and ▲Office assistance (using office equipment, document writing, sorting mail, etc.). Students will rotate through these experiences.

The high school job challenge employment camp will be held at the Daejeon Vocational Competency Development Institute from July 31 to August 1 as a one-night, two-day program. It will be operated for 20 high school students who have participated in field training programs at the Daejeon Special Education Center.

The main schedule includes dividing students into four teams, rotating through six job experience activities (assembling LED spinning tops, projection activities, towel organizing, cookie packaging, character design, Scratch coding), career special lectures, healthy and fun workplace leisure activities, and community capacity-building programs (sports and recreation activities).

One student who participated in the career camp said, "I think it is a valuable opportunity to experience a variety of activities that are difficult to do at school, and I hope I can find a field that suits my aptitude and eventually get a job."
