The Vacation Mobile Library was established to promote a reading culture among tourists visiting the downstream weir of Unmun Dam, a popular summer vacation spot, and to provide relaxation and leisure through books. Anyone can freely borrow a variety of books.
The Saemaul Library Cheongdo County Branch will operate the 'Mobile Library at Vacation Spots' and carry out the 'Carbon Neutrality Practice' campaign until the 3rd of next month.
The mobile library will operate for a total of 10 days, from July 25 to August 3. During the operation period, Saemaeul leaders from each town and township will take turns working daily to provide guidance.
In addition, various volunteer activities will be conducted, such as promoting order among vacationers, environmental cleanup activities, and "Saemaeul Jupging Day" as part of the carbon neutrality movement, to help create a pleasant environment at the vacation site.
In particular, during this operation period, international students from the Yeungnam University Institute for Multicultural Education, which has signed a business agreement with Cheongdo County, will participate in volunteer activities at every session, adding significant meaning to exchanges and cooperation with the local community.
Park Junik, president of the Saemaeul Library branch, stated, "I would like to thank all the members who are working together to operate the mobile library despite the heat. We will do our best to ensure that the mobile library continues every year and makes a practical contribution to spreading and establishing a reading culture in the local community."
A Cheongdo County official said, "We hope that people will enjoy a relaxing time with books during their summer vacation, even amidst their busy daily lives. We expect that a single book will make vacationers' summer even richer."
