The Youth International Exchange Project was established based on over 20 years of friendly cooperation between Pocheon City and Hokuto City in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. This program supports youth in gaining diverse experiences and developing a global perspective through international cultural exchange.
The international exchange delegation will visit Hokuto City, Japan, from July 28 to July 31 for a three-night, four-day program. They will participate in activities such as experiencing traditional Japanese culture, engaging in exchange programs with local youth, and visiting institutions, thereby serving as a bridge to promote friendship between the two cities.
The departure ceremony was attended by 10 local middle school students selected through interviews and their parents. During the event, participants shared the delegation’s activity plans and exchanged messages of encouragement, making it a meaningful occasion.
Pocheon Mayor Baek Younghyeon stated, "I hope that through this exchange, students will learn to see from various perspectives, develop their competencies in a global society, and grow as global citizens."
Kim Hyuncheol, CEO of the Pocheon City Youth Foundation, said, "Next year, Japanese students are scheduled to visit Pocheon, and we will continue to foster mutual understanding and friendship between the youth of both countries."
Pocheon City plans to continue promoting various international exchange programs to help local youth cultivate a global mindset and learn to respect cultural diversity.
