Joo Jinwoo: "Mandatory General Assembly Voting Needed to End Factional Politics Like 'Under-Chinyoon'"

"Decision-Making System Must Change Rather Than Personnel Reform"

On July 28, Representative Joo Jinwoo, who has declared his candidacy for the leadership of the People Power Party, stated, "I will make voting at the general assembly of lawmakers mandatory to eradicate factional and clique-based politics."

On this day, through his social networking service (SNS) account, Joo wrote, "I will strongly implement a 'system overhaul' that will completely change the decision-making structure to be fully transparent."

Rather than focusing on personnel reform, he aims to change the decision-making system to prevent the emergence of a second or third wave of outdated factions.

He also pledged to realize responsible politics by introducing 'recorded voting' for important issues.

Joo explained, "There will be no more general assemblies that involve endless fighting without conclusions. For impeachment bills, key party policy bills, and reform proposals, we will conduct recorded votes so that both the public and party members know which lawmakers supported or opposed each issue."

Finally, he announced plans to expand the general assembly into a 'horizontal decision-making structure' by allowing a certain proportion (30%) of regional chairpersons, aides, and party staff representatives to participate, granting them both speaking and voting rights.

Joo added, "This will ensure that opinions from the field, which are more closely connected to people's livelihoods, are conveyed without distortion," and promised to amend the party constitution and regulations.
