Exclusive Electric Vehicle Tire 'iON Evo SUV'
Outstanding Energy Efficiency and Grip
Hankook Tire & Technology announced on July 28 that it will supply its electric vehicle-exclusive performance tire, the iON Evo SUV, as original equipment tires for Xiaomi's first electric crossover SUV, the YU7, in China.
The YU7 is a high-performance electric SUV equipped with a dual-motor powertrain, delivering a maximum output of 680 horsepower, accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, and offering a maximum driving range of 760 km on a single charge according to the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) standards.
Hankook Tire developed a dedicated tire optimized for the YU7 in collaboration with Xiaomi. The iON Evo SUV provides balanced performance, including excellent grip, handling, and braking, ensuring stable driving in various road conditions. Its design is optimized for the powerful torque, high load, and noise reduction requirements of electric vehicles, further enhancing the YU7's driving performance with greater stability and efficiency.
In particular, to accommodate the high load of an SUV equipped with a large-capacity electric battery, the tire evenly distributes contact pressure and improves cornering stiffness by approximately 10%. An aramid hybrid reinforcement belt was applied for high-speed driving stability, and an EV-exclusive compound was used to support stable driving in all seasons, including both dry and wet road conditions.
Low-temperature uniform rubber curing technology was also applied to reduce rolling resistance and improve energy efficiency, resulting in up to a 6% increase in energy efficiency and up to a 15% increase in mileage. The iON Evo SUV will be supplied to the YU7 in two sizes: 19-inch and 20-inch.
