Gyeonggi Province Introduces 'Youth Internship for People with Disabilities' at 20 Public Institutions, Hiring 31 Participants

Gyeonggi Province has decided to pilot a youth internship (corporate experience) program for young people with disabilities at 20 affiliated public institutions and will select 31 participants.

Previously, on March 28, Governor Kim Dongyeon of Gyeonggi Province attended the "Log IN Opportunity for Youth with Disabilities, Hope Savings ON in Gyeonggi Province" event held at Kangnam University in Yongin. At the event, an employment club composed of students with disabilities proposed the "Youth Internship Program for People with Disabilities at Public Institutions in the Province," and Governor Kim promptly accepted the proposal.

Accordingly, based on the results of this year's pilot operation at 20 public institutions in the province, the internship program will be expanded to all public institutions starting in 2026.

The program is open to unemployed young people with disabilities aged 19 to 39. Recruitment will be conducted in two rounds. The first round will begin accepting applications on August 4 at 10 institutions, including the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation, and will select 16 participants. Final candidates will receive preliminary basic job training through the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities and will begin working at each institution after September 1.

Gyeonggi Province plans to provide not only preliminary training but also ongoing management and additional education during the internship to help participants adapt smoothly to their duties.

Kim Yeonseop, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Independent Living Support Division for Persons with Disabilities, stated, "We hope that this internship will provide young people with disabilities with a practical opportunity to develop their capabilities and serve as a catalyst for spreading a culture of employment for people with disabilities throughout the public sector." He added, "We look forward to active interest and participation from many young people with disabilities."
