On July 26, the Democratic Party of Korea stated that the court ruling holding former President Yoon Suk-yeol responsible for compensating citizens for damages caused by the December 3 Martial Law is "a victory for the people and a judgment against the ringleader of the rebellion."
In a commentary on this day, floor spokesperson Baek Seung-a said, "Yoon Suk-yeol's illegal martial law and rebellion are grave crimes that not only caused psychological harm to the people, but also destroyed the national dignity, democracy, and economy of the Republic of Korea."
She added, "As a result of the martial law, the astronomical economic losses and suffering from the economic crisis have become an 'invoice for rebellion' that all citizens of the Republic of Korea must bear together," and declared, "The Democratic Party will work with the Lee Jaemyung administration to rebuild the Republic of Korea that has been brought down."
Regarding media reports that standing auditors of public institutions appointed during the Yoon Suk-yeol administration went on overseas business trips for leisure purposes, spokesperson Baek said, "These are 'eat-and-run' trips hastily taken by parachute and holdover appointees right before the end of their terms," and called for a government audit and voluntary resignations from those involved.
