On July 26, the People Power Party criticized President Lee Jaemyung for approving the appointments of Unification Minister Chung Dongyoung, Defense Minister Ahn Kyubaek, and Patriots and Veterans Affairs Minister Kwon Oeul, stating, "Despite ignoring the people and plunging the country into division over the Kang Sunwoo controversy, he continues to make predetermined personnel decisions, as if the answer is already set and only a response is required."
Choi Sujin, chief spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated in a commentary on the same day, "President Lee pushed ahead with the appointments of Chung Dongyoung, Ahn Kyubaek, and Kwon Oeul as ministers, even though the National Assembly has not adopted the personnel hearing reports."
Regarding Choi Hwiyoung, the candidate for Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, she said, "There are still problematic candidates remaining," and described Choi as "a veritable 'comprehensive set of corruption.'" She added, "Even the allegations revealed so far, such as real estate speculation using insider information, are serious. In addition, there are indications that he operated a corporation like a shell company, and multiple violations resulting in fines have also come to light."
She emphasized, "The personnel chaos, which is already at the level of a disaster, is more than enough," and stressed, "Forcing through appointments while turning a deaf ear to public opinion is a challenge to the people and an act of arrogance that must not be forgotten."
