On this day, a team of seven inspectors from the Ministry of Employment and Labor visited Daewoo Winia and the Kumho Tire Gwangju plant to assess the validity of designating the area as an Employment Crisis Area.
The inspection team first visited Daewoo Winia, where five affiliated companies have gone bankrupt, to listen to the impact on the local economy. They then visited the Kumho Tire plant, where operations have been suspended due to a fire, to examine the scale and reality of the employment crisis.
Based on the results of the inspection, the government will decide whether to designate Gwangsan-gu as an Employment Crisis Area through the Employment Policy Deliberation Committee and other relevant bodies. If designated, support measures such as increased employment retention subsidies, deferred insurance premium payments, and expanded livelihood loans will be provided.
