Kang Suhyeon: "We Will Do Our Best to Build a Future-Oriented Educational City"
Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on July 25 that two local high schools, Okjeong High School and Deokgye High School, have been finally selected as "Gyeonggi-do Science-Focused Schools," a program promoted by the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education.
This selection is the result of receiving high evaluations in areas such as the schools' science education capabilities, infrastructure, and potential for collaboration with the local community.
"Gyeonggi-do Science-Focused Schools" are institutions that provide intensive support to help students develop interest and inquiry skills in science in preparation for a future science and technology society. At these general high schools, it is possible to offer customized specialized education through science and mathematics-focused curricula.
This selection is regarded as the outcome of Yangju City's continuous efforts to improve the educational environment and expand the foundation for science education. The city has implemented various educational policies, including financial support for improving school education conditions, modernization of school facilities, and support for specialized programs to foster future talent.
Kang Suhyeon, Mayor of Yangju, stated, "I sincerely congratulate you on being selected as a Gyeonggi-do Science-Focused School," and added, "Yangju City will continue to create an educational environment where local schools can fully demonstrate their capabilities, so that our children can lead the future at the center of science and technology."
He continued, "The designation as a Science-Focused School will provide students with broader learning opportunities and will serve as an opportunity to enhance Yangju's status as an educational city within the local community. Moving forward, we will closely cooperate with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education and the Dongducheon Yangju Office of Education to do our best in building a future-oriented educational city."
