Decisions Made on Operating Familiarization Tours and Promotional Booths at International Expos
Jeollanam-do announced on the 25th that it hosted the 32nd Korea-Japan Strait Coastal Tourism Exchange Meeting for three days until the 25th in Damyang, Jangseong, and Gokseong, with tourism directors from eight cities and prefectures in Korea and Japan in attendance, and discussed various cooperative projects to revitalize tourism.
Through this meeting, it was decided that as a joint project for 2025, Yamaguchi Prefecture in Japan will host a familiarization tour inviting travel agencies and media outlets, and the four Korean cities and provinces will jointly operate a promotional booth at an international expo in the second half of the year to attract inbound tourists.
Naoto Oka, Director of Inbound Promotion at Yamaguchi Prefecture, said, "This became a meaningful platform for sharing the main tourism policies of the eight cities and prefectures and discussing joint projects to revitalize tourism."
Oh Mikyung, Director of Tourism at Jeollanam-do, emphasized, "We will thoroughly prepare the joint projects decided this time so that tourism exchanges between the two countries become even more active and lead to tangible results."
The Korea-Japan Strait Coastal Tourism Exchange Meeting consists of eight tourism department directors from Jeollanam-do, Busan, Gyeongnam, and Jeju in Korea, and Yamaguchi, Fukuoka, Saga, and Nagasaki in Japan. A secretariat city is selected every other year, and joint projects to revitalize tourism between the two countries are discovered and promoted, centering on the secretariat city.
