59 Rental Locations Including Senior Centers, Welfare Centers, and Community Service Centers
Jungnang District in Seoul (District Mayor Ryu Gyeonggi) is officially launching the "Jungnang Companion Silver Car Rental Project" to help ensure the safe outings of senior citizens.
Jungnang-gu, Seoul held the 'Jungnang Together Silver Car Delivery Ceremony' at the district office on the 24th. Provided by Jungnang-gu.
This project was initiated in response to the increasing demand for walking aids due to the aging population, and to enable seniors to go out more safely and conveniently. The district secured the necessary budget through a Seoul city public contest. Jungnang District has placed a total of 210 silver cars at 59 locations, including 39 district senior centers, 4 senior welfare centers, and 16 community service centers.
Any resident of Jungnang District aged 65 or older is eligible to rent a silver car. When renting from a district senior center, membership registration is required. Each person can rent one silver car for a basic period of two months, with the option to extend for one additional month, allowing for a maximum usage period of three months. There is no limit to the number of times a senior can use the service, and re-rental is possible if there are remaining units. Each rental location is responsible for managing and collecting the silver cars.
Ryu Gyeonggi, Mayor of Jungnang District, stated, "We were selected for the city public contest as a result of our efforts to improve the mobility and vibrant lives of Jungnang's seniors," and added, "We will continue to implement policies to enhance the quality of life for our elderly residents, building on this support."
This "Jungnang Companion Silver Car" project is expected to help alleviate the social isolation of seniors and promote their participation in outdoor activities. The district plans to analyze the results of the project and consider expanding it in the future.
