Joo Jinwoo: "No Comfort or Apology for Aides"
"People Power Party Should Value Aides and Party Officials"
Criticizing Kim Eojun's Claim That 'There Was No Abuse of Power'
Joo Jinwoo, a member of the People Power Party who has declared his candidacy for party leader, strongly criticized Kang Sunwoo, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (and former Minister of Gender Equality and Family nominee), as well as ruling party figures who have defended her. He argued that instead of offering comfort or apologies to the aides who suffered from abuse of power, they have been preoccupied with defending her.
On July 24, Joo Jinwoo posted on his Facebook page an article titled, "The Democratic Party Where Secondary Victimization Is Systematic, Not a Single Sincere Apology." The main point was that even as Kang Sunwoo resigned from her ministerial nomination under public pressure, she ultimately did not apologize to her aides.
Joo Jinwoo stated, "Jeong Cheongrae, a candidate for the Democratic Party's leadership, was busy offering personal comfort and shielding Kang Sunwoo," and added, "Kim Eo-jun, the Democratic Party's godfather, also joined in, openly committing secondary victimization against the affected aides by saying, 'There was no abuse of power by Kang Sunwoo serious enough to warrant her resignation.'"
He continued, "Did any of them even witness the aides in Kang Sunwoo's office cleaning up food waste? How can they be so sure there was no abuse of power?"
In conclusion, he said, "The People Power Party must pursue a clear differentiation strategy from the Democratic Party. Our party should value aides and party officials and build horizontal partnerships with them."
