Seongju Taekwondo's Son Minseon Wins Silver at 2025 Summer World University Games... Coach Park Eunhee Donates Entire Prize Money as Local Scholarship

The Seongju County Office Women's Taekwondo Team, led by coach Park Eunhee, is establishing itself as a prestigious professional team in women's taekwondo by dominating both domestic and international competitions.


Since its founding in 2013, the team has distinguished itself by producing two national team members simultaneously for the first time. Recently, the team has also demonstrated overwhelming skills at international competitions.

At the '2025 WT World Cup Team Championship Series' in the women's team event (three-person team), national team member Kim Eunbin won the gold medal, reaching the top. At the '2025 Rhein-Ruhr Summer World University Games,' Son Minseon earned the silver medal, further elevating the status of Korean taekwondo.


At the '2025 Rhein-Ruhr Summer World University Games' held in Essen, Germany from July 17 to July 23, Seongju County Office national team member Son Minseon competed in the women's team poomsae event, performing high-difficulty techniques. She fought fiercely and secured the silver medal with a total score of 8.749.


The gold medal went to Taiwan (total score 8.849), while the bronze medals were awarded to Germany (total score 8.366) and Canada (total score 8.316).


Coach Park Eunhee of the Seongju County Office Women's Taekwondo Team stated, "I give my wholehearted applause to Son Minseon, who overcame a difficult training process and achieved this valuable result. We will continue to focus on training so that she can achieve even greater results on bigger stages in the future."


Coach Park Eunhee donated a scholarship of 2 million won to the Seongju County Byeolgoul Scholarship Foundation for local talent development, using the prize money she received for winning first place at the '2025 WT World Cup Team Championship Series.'


Seongju County Governor Lee Byeonghwan said, "I am very pleased and proud that our Seongju County athlete was able to fully demonstrate her hard-earned skills and win a silver medal at this prestigious international event, which is a sports festival for university students around the world. I also thank you for generously donating the scholarship, and Seongju County will continue to do its best to nurture outstanding students in our region."
