Police Launch Internal Inquiry into Alleged Abuse of Migrant Workers at Naju Brick Factory A video showing a migrant worker in Naju, Jeonnam, being tied up with brick products and lifted by a forklift has sparked controversy. Provided by Jeonnam Migrant Workers Human Rights Network.

The police have begun a fact-finding investigation into allegations of abuse against migrant workers at a brick factory in Naju, South Jeolla Province.

On July 24, the South Jeolla Provincial Police Agency announced that they are conducting a preliminary investigation (internal inquiry) regarding a video that appears to have been filmed at a brick manufacturing factory in Naju, showing alleged abuse of migrant workers.

The video, which is believed to have been filmed in July, contains shocking footage of a 31-year-old Sri Lankan national, identified as A, hanging while bound with white plastic wrap to a load of bricks carried by a forklift. The video also includes mocking voices of coworkers, with remarks such as "You have to say you did something wrong."

The police are reportedly examining whether the victimized worker was subjected to abuse, based on the video footage.

Meanwhile, President Lee Jaemyung, along with local civic groups and various sectors of society, have expressed grave concern over the incident.
