Operating Profit Reaches 83 Billion KRW in Q2... Up 17% Year-on-Year

HD Hyundai Marine Solution, a solutions company in the marine industry under HD Hyundai, achieved its highest-ever half-year performance, driven by the expansion of maintenance contracts and the growth of its digital solutions business.
On July 24, HD Hyundai Marine Solution announced that its sales for the second quarter of 2025 reached 467.7 billion KRW, with an operating profit of 83 billion KRW. These figures represent increases of 6.8% and 16.9%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. The operating profit margin stood at 17.7%. The cumulative operating profit for the first half of the year totaled 166 billion KRW, marking the company's highest-ever half-year performance.
The growth in performance was led by the aftermarket (AM) segment, which is the company's main business. In particular, long-term maintenance contracts for eco-friendly dual-fuel engines increased, resulting in an 11.6% year-on-year rise in AM segment sales. The digital solutions segment also continued its growth trend. Alongside a strong newbuilding market, the expansion of digital-based new businesses such as 'shaft generator systems'?driven by the strengthening of eco-friendly regulations?led to a 12.8% increase in related sales.
However, the eco-friendly retrofit business saw a 5.2% decline in sales, as shipping companies postponed investments amid a transitional period ahead of the implementation of certain environmental regulations. The company stated that the 'engine part-load optimization' project, an eco-friendly ship retrofit contract secured in the first half of this year, is expected to be reflected in sales starting in the second half, leading to anticipated improvements in performance.
A representative from HD Hyundai Marine Solution said, "Even as market uncertainty grows due to geopolitical risks, we are expanding our customer base in the Middle East and Asia," adding, "We will further strengthen our leading position in high value-added areas such as eco-friendly engines and smart solutions."
