Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center Provides Free Medical Care to Gapyeong Flood Victims Starting July 22

Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center announced on July 24 that, starting from July 22, its six affiliated hospitals have been providing free medical care to residents affected by flooding in Gapyeong.

This medical support is being carried out by dispatching medical personnel (including doctors and nurses) from six hospitals under Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center?Suwon, Uijeongbu, Paju, Icheon, Anseong, and Pocheon?on a daily rotating basis following the flood disaster.

Medical services are offered at the Gapyeong County Health Branch and nearby shelters from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.

The main areas of care include management of chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, treatment of trauma and infectious diseases, basic medical care, medication guidance, and health consultations.

Lee Pilsoo, President of Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center, stated, "As a public medical institution, it is our duty to be the first to arrive at the scene during disasters to protect the lives and health of residents," and added, "We will continue to do our utmost to minimize damage by closely cooperating with Gyeonggi Province, public health centers, and other related organizations."

Earlier, in the early morning of July 20, Gapyeong County was hit by a 'water bomb' with rainfall close to 100mm per hour, resulting in road blockages, flooded homes, and missing persons.

Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center determined that it was difficult for residents to access medical institutions and thus began this medical support to minimize the health crisis by focusing on on-site care at public health centers and shelters.
