Participation from Public Officials, Democratic Party, Military Units, and Local Organizations
The county announced on July 24 that it had deployed 70 public officials to more than 10 affected sites in Ingae-myeon, Pungsan-myeon, and Geumgwa-myeon, areas that suffered significant flood damage. Restoration activities were focused on locations where urgent recovery was needed, such as residential homes and farms.
Public officials, including County Governor Choi Youngil, were assigned to different affected areas and concentrated on tasks such as organizing household goods within homes, removing soil and debris from inside greenhouses, and sorting and collecting waste.
In particular, the Democratic Party of Korea's North Jeolla Provincial Party urgently dispatched 130 personnel to support the swift recovery of the region. These individuals were sent to sites requiring immediate restoration, where they participated in various maintenance, cleaning, and flood recovery activities, providing significant support to the local community.
On July 22, 40 soldiers, including Battalion Commander Choi Youngbae from the 3rd Battalion of the 7733rd Unit, took part in civilian recovery work at the home of an elderly resident in Pungsan-myeon.
The house targeted for restoration was a single-story wooden slate structure that had suffered severe damage from the recent heavy rainfall, including internal flooding and the influx of soil from outside. The soldiers assisted with removing soil from the yard and organizing belongings inside the house, while County Governor Choi Youngil visited the site to inspect the situation and personally participate in the restoration work.
Additionally, on July 20, members of local organizations took part in river maintenance activities along Yangjicheon and Gyeongcheon. They collected debris and waste that had been washed down by the heavy rain, contributing to the creation of a cleaner river environment.
Governor Choi stated, "Despite the difficult circumstances, public officials, political parties, the military, volunteers, and residents united to enable a swift recovery. Moving forward, we will continue to establish a more systematic and effective disaster response system to prioritize and protect the lives and property of our residents."
