According to police and fire authorities on July 24, at approximately 9:33 a.m. that day, a fire department rescue dog found the body of a man buried in earth and sand under Deokhyeon Bridge in Deokhyeon-ri during a search operation.
After authorities recovered the body and confirmed the identity, it was determined to be the teenage son, referred to as A, who went missing along with his mother in her 40s at Mail-ri Camping Site. The straight-line distance from the site where he went missing to where the body was found is about 9 kilometers.
A went missing along with his mother in the early morning of July 20, when a landslide occurred at Mail-ri Camping Site in Jojong-myeon, Gapyeong-gun.
Including A, the number of deaths in northern Gyeonggi Province due to the recent heavy rainfall has reached six: five in Gapyeong and one in Pocheon.
Currently, two people remain missing: a woman in her 40s who went missing at Mail-ri Camping Site and a man in his 50s who was swept away by rapid currents along the riverside in Deokhyeon-ri.
