The venture industry announced on July 24 that it welcomes and congratulates Han Sung-sook on her inauguration as Minister of SMEs and Startups.
On this day, the Korea Venture Business Association stated, "The new minister is an IT expert with a background as an entrepreneur. In this rapidly changing era of AI, there are high expectations that she will lead innovation and strengthen the vitality and competitiveness of Korea's venture ecosystem." The association added, "We deeply resonate with her belief that entrepreneurship is not merely an individual's challenge, but the core of the nation's growth strategy."
The association continued, "Venture companies play a key role in achieving 'real growth,' such as becoming an AI powerhouse and pursuing technology-driven growth, which are the government's goals." They requested that Minister Han play an active role in creating policies and an environment to support these objectives.
Regarding current issues in the venture industry, the association stated, "We ask for continued attention to strengthening the innovative venture ecosystem, including expanding the venture finance market, regulatory innovation, and greater flexibility in the working hours system." They added, "We hope that comprehensive measures to make Korea one of the world's top four venture powerhouses will be swiftly implemented, and that the venture ecosystem will be developed so that Korean ventures can lead the world."
