The Shincheonji Church of Jesus (led by Chairman Lee Manhee) Taekwondo representative team showcased their skills on the international stage, with all participating athletes winning awards.

The Taekwondo team competed in the official poomsae category at the '2025 Park Chunghee Cup International Open Taekwondo Tournament,' held from July 18 to 21 at the Sangju Indoor Gymnasium in Gyeongbuk. All 25 athletes on the team won medals, earning 4 gold, 7 silver, and 14 bronze.

The tournament was organized by the Park Chunghee Cup Organizing Committee and co-hosted by the Gyeongbuk Taekwondo Association and the Sangju Taekwondo Association. Over 4,200 athletes from 18 countries, including Korea, the United States, and France, participated. The competition featured various events, including overall performance, breaking, poomsae, kicking, and sparring.

The Shincheonji Taekwondo team participated in the individual official poomsae event held on July 19. Despite a short preparation period, the team improved their skills through intensive training. Earlier this month, at the '2025 Kim Unyong Cup International Open Taekwondo Tournament' held in Busan, the entire team also won medals, demonstrating their strength. Of the 12 athletes who competed, 2 won first place, 4 won second place, and 5 won third place, with all earning medals.

Lee Junwi, who won a gold medal, said, "I tried to focus as much as possible within the given time, and I am grateful that my efforts led to a good result."

Head coach Kim Deokhoon stated, "As this was an international-level tournament, the competition was intense, but I am proud that our athletes performed without wavering. Next year, we will work to systematize our training and strategies so that we can participate with more athletes and improved skills."

This Taekwondo team has continued to achieve steady results on the international stage, with 5 out of 18 athletes winning awards at the '2024 Mungyeong World Taekwondo Hanmadang.'

A church representative emphasized, "We will continue to promote healthy living and contribute to society through sports."
