This program is an experiential activity designed to help protected and vulnerable youth discover and develop their dreams and talents, with Pukyong National University student volunteers serving as mentors.
A total of 95 youth participated, including protected youth from the Mansasonyeon-affiliated Youth Recovery Center and vulnerable youth from childcare facilities. Eighty-seven student volunteers from Pukyong National University joined as mentors.
Over three days, from July 22 to July 24, participants experienced 12 different team-based programs, including pizza making, woodworking for daily life, keyring crafts, soccer, and autonomous vehicles. The student mentors from Pukyong National University supported the youth throughout the entire process, helping them showcase their talents and improve their social adaptation skills.
Choi Suyeon, a third-year student in the Department of Law and a member of the student volunteer group, said, "It was more than just an experiential activity; it was an opportunity to communicate with passion. I felt a great sense of fulfillment knowing that I contributed to the youth's growth process."
Since 2021, Pukyong National University has been operating the PKNU Guardian program in collaboration with local organizations such as Mansasonyeon and Aloysio Giji 1968, continuously supporting experiential and mentoring activities for protected and vulnerable youth.
