The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) will host a special program titled "A Summer Day to Share Our Hearts," combining music, art, and storytelling, at the newly established MMCA Ai Space at the Seoul branch from August 1 to 17, 2025, in conjunction with the "Maeum_Bom" exhibition for the summer vacation season.

"Music for Resting the Heart" will feature singer Jeong In, known for her unique husky voice and deep emotional resonance. The program will include songs curated to align with the theme of the "Maeum_Bom" exhibition, which explores the hearts of children and families, and will offer a moment of rest for parents and caregivers. Through Jeong In's songs such as "As You Say," "Comfort (Begin Again)," and "Uphill Road," visitors can enjoy a healing time during the hot summer. The performance is open to all museum visitors, including families with children and adults without children, who can freely participate on-site. "Music for Resting the Heart" will be held on August 16, 2025, starting at 2:00 p.m. and will last for about 40 minutes. Participation is available through advance registration on the museum website starting July 28, with a first-come, first-served limit of 50 participants.

"Strong Words to Protect the Heart" will be led by teacher Hyun-A Lee, author of several books including "Children's Heart Pharmacy" and "How to Wisely Protect Myself When Friends Hurt Me." Targeted at families with children aged 7 to 10, this session will share guidance for children and parents on various situations that may arise in peer relationships. The program will take place on August 9, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. for approximately two hours, and participation is available through advance registration on the museum website. Up to 15 families (based on a family of four) can participate.


Family Workshop: Creating a Family Wind Tower after Viewing the Exhibition

"Our Family Wind Tower" is a workshop where, after viewing the "Wind Tower" artwork from the "Maeum_Bom" exhibition, families can share their thoughts, wishes, and hopes, and create their own wind tower using wooden pieces designed by artist Oh Youkyung. This program is open to families with young children and elementary school students, and participation is available through advance registration on the museum website. Up to five families (based on a family of four) can participate in each session, and the workshop will be held a total of four times.


A Variety of Ongoing Programs

In addition, there will be ongoing programs available at any time during the special summer vacation program period. These include "Large Heart Pieces," where participants can connect large pieces related to the "Maeum_Bom" exhibition, and "Heart Diary," where visitors can record and share their feelings for the day. Small souvenirs will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors can also join ongoing workshops associated with the "Maeum_Bom" exhibition, such as "Connecting Hearts," "Facing Hearts," and "Tadak Tadak Heart Letters," which help deepen understanding of the artworks and expand children's artistic experiences.


Furthermore, during the special program period, visitors can also enjoy ongoing exhibitions at MMCA Seoul, including the permanent exhibition "Highlights of Korean Contemporary Art," MMCA Multidisciplinary Art "Forest," "2025 Interlude: Perspectives on the Boundary," and "MMCA × LG OLED Series 2025-Chusu."
