This scholarship is a "disaster-tailored support measure" designed to help students who have suffered damage to their housing or livelihood due to natural disasters continue their studies.

A Korea University official explained, "We plan to provide prompt and practical financial support so that students facing difficulties from unexpected disasters can reduce the burden of tuition and living expenses."

The scholarship is available to current Korea University students who have their address in, or whose immediate family resides in, areas officially designated as special disaster zones or regions affected by natural disasters. The amount awarded to each applicant will be individually determined, taking into account the extent of the damage and the student's academic circumstances.

Applications for the scholarship can be submitted online through the Korea University portal (KUPID) system, with the application period open until the 20th of next month.

Kim Dongwon, President of Korea University, stated, "We will mobilize every possible means to ensure that students affected by sudden natural disasters do not have to give up their studies."
