Supports Driver's License, Resident Registration Card, National Veterans Registration Card, and Foreigner Registration Card
IC ID Required... iPhone Support Coming Soon
Naver announced on the 23rd that it has launched the "Naver ID" on the Naver app, which can be used with the same legal validity as a physical ID card.
The Naver ID supports a total of four types of identification: driver's license, resident registration card, national veterans registration card, and foreigner registration card. Currently, Android smartphone users with an IC ID can use the Naver app to verify their identity both online and offline.

The ID function is supported on Android Galaxy devices running One UI 6.1 or higher, and an iPhone (iOS) version will be released in the future. In addition, if the ID you possess is not an IC ID, you can reissue it as an IC ID and then register it with the Naver ID.
The Naver ID can also be used for age verification when purchasing alcoholic beverages online at the Naver Plus Store or at services such as cafes that require adult authentication. Furthermore, it can be used with the same legal effect as a physical ID card for processes such as civil services at community centers, certificate issuance on Government24, and identity verification for elections.
In 2024, Naver was selected by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as a "mobile ID service provider." Following development guidelines, the company spent the past year building the service and passed the suitability assessment.
The Naver ID is stored in encrypted form within the security area of the user's device. Even if the phone is lost, additional verification steps such as biometric authentication or password authentication are required, which Naver says significantly reduces the risk of identity theft or information leakage.
Hwang Jihee, the Naver leader in charge of mobile IDs, said, "We hope more users will take advantage of digital authentication through the Naver ID, which offers excellent security and convenience," adding, "We will continue to expand the range of supported IDs and use cases, further increasing universality and enhancing our services."
Meanwhile, on the same day, Naver attended the "Mobile ID Private Sector Opening Event" hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
