Provincial Council Moves to Amend Ordinance for Tourism-Vulnerable Groups
Tour Pass to Be Offered as Hometown Love Donation Return Gift
Chungnam Province is accelerating the expansion of tourism welfare and revitalization of local tourism by broadening the eligibility for its integrated tourism pass (Tour Pass).
The Chungnam Provincial Council announced on July 23 that the Administrative and Cultural Affairs Committee, during the 360th extraordinary session, passed a partial amendment to the "Ordinance on the Operation and Management of the Chungcheongnam-do Integrated Tourism Pass," which was proposed by Council member Kwanghee Choi (Boryeong 1, Independent).
The integrated tourism pass, commonly known as the "Tour Pass," is a unified pass that provides free or discounted access to paid tourist attractions, accommodations, transportation, and experience facilities within the province. It is being actively promoted in celebration of "2025 Chungnam Visit Year."
Of this year’s target of 45,000 passes sold, 25,679 were already sold in the first half of the year, indicating a rapid increase in usage.
With this ordinance amendment, the eligibility for the Tour Pass is expected to be expanded.
The amendment includes not only existing tourism-vulnerable groups but also people with disabilities and families with multiple children?defined as "priority support groups for tourism" who need greater opportunities to participate in tourism?so that a broader range of people can benefit.
In addition, the amendment establishes a legal basis for linking the Tour Pass to various souvenirs and gifts provided by the province, thereby increasing its practical utility.
In particular, the province plans to add the Tour Pass to the list of return gifts for the Hometown Love Donation Program this year. Through this, the effectiveness of the system will be evaluated and potentially expanded to other projects.
Kwanghee Choi stated, "The purpose of this ordinance amendment is to make it easier for many residents and tourists to access Chungnam's tourism resources," adding, "We will expand tourism welfare so that various groups can travel in Chungnam and invigorate the local economy."
Meanwhile, this ordinance is scheduled for final approval at the second plenary session on July 29.
