"Building a Robust Community Safety Net"
Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae) has launched a comprehensive survey to prevent solitary deaths. On July 23, the county announced that it had completed a full-scale survey of 9,320 single-person households and plans to conduct a second, in-depth survey of high-risk groups by August 29.
This survey was designed to precisely analyze the living environments and health conditions of individuals at high risk of solitary death and to establish tailored prevention measures. Welfare officers from towns and villages are conducting on-site visits to carry out the survey, comprehensively assessing living risk factors and mental health conditions.
In particular, the survey will examine depressive symptoms, social isolation, and crisis situations from multiple perspectives to identify high-risk individuals. Those selected will receive customized welfare services and intensive management programs. Support measures include: ▲linking to basic livelihood security and emergency welfare services, ▲intensive management of socially isolated individuals, and ▲counseling in cooperation with the mental health welfare center.
Governor Cho Sangrae stated, "Through this survey, we aim to establish a robust community safety net," and asked for residents' interest and cooperation.
