According to Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital, renowned physicians who have been recognized both domestically and internationally for their outstanding clinical and academic capabilities?including Professor Kim Geonseok of the Department of Urology, Professor Kim Jaejun of the Department of Gastroenterology, Professor Kim Hojung of the Department of Pulmonology, and Professor Shin Heeseok of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine?will officially begin practicing at the hospital starting in September.
Professor Kim Geonseok of the Department of Urology is a leading authority in Korea in the field of pediatric urological diseases, including cryptorchidism, hypospadias, hydrocele, and hernia.
He graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine, obtained both his master's and doctoral degrees from the same graduate school, and completed training at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine in the United States.
Professor Kim made his name as a trusted physician among patients and their families by providing accurate diagnosis, treatment, and surgery for pediatric urological diseases while serving as the Chief and Head Professor of Urology at Asan Medical Center.
In particular, he has contributed to the advancement of pediatric urology through active academic engagement both domestically and internationally, having served as President of the Asia-Pacific Society of Pediatric Urology, President of the Korean Society of Pediatric Urology, President of the Korean Society of Pediatric Voiding Dysfunction and Enuresis, and Vice President of Education at Asan Medical Center.
Professor Kim Jaejun of the Department of Gastroenterology is an authority who first introduced endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) in Korea, leading the treatment of gastric cancer and the advancement of therapeutic endoscopy.
He graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine, completed his master's and doctoral degrees at the same graduate school, and trained at Baylor College of Medicine in the United States.
While serving as a professor in the Department of Gastroenterology at Samsung Medical Center, Professor Kim held positions as Head of the Department of Gastroenterology and Director of the Gastric Cancer Center at the Cancer Hospital, conducting clinical research to standardize and improve the safety and efficiency of gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures.
He has also been active in academia, serving as President of the Korean Society of Gastroenterology and President of the Korean Society of Upper Gastrointestinal and Helicobacter Research.
Professor Kim Hojung of the Department of Pulmonology is an expert who has led clinical practice and research in the field of respiratory diseases, including lung cancer, pulmonary hypertension, bronchial stenosis, and pulmonary vascular diseases.
He graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine, obtained his master's and doctoral degrees from the same graduate school, and trained at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center in the United States.
At Samsung Medical Center, Professor Kim served as Head of the Department of Pulmonology, Director of the Lung and Esophageal Cancer Center, Director of the Emergency Care Center, and Director of the Clinical Trials Center, leading the care system for patients with severe pulmonary diseases.
He has also contributed to academic advancement by serving as Vice President of the Korean Association for Lung Cancer, President of the Korean Bronchoesophagology Society, and Treasurer of the World Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology.
Professor Shin Heeseok of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is a specialist in neurospinal rehabilitation and foot rehabilitation, who has led improvements in rehabilitation treatment systems for nerve paralysis and post-traumatic recovery.
He graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine, earned his master's and doctoral degrees from the same graduate school, and trained at the University of Washington School of Medicine in the United States.
Professor Shin has dedicated himself to clinical research in neurorehabilitation, taking the lead in establishing rehabilitation treatment systems that help patients with nerve paralysis return to daily life more quickly, and contributing to the development of rehabilitation medicine as a field that enhances patients' quality of life.
He previously served as the 16th Director of Gyeongsang National University Hospital and was recently elected as the next President of the Korean Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine, further demonstrating his outstanding capabilities across clinical practice, research, and education.
With the addition of experienced and senior-level medical professionals who possess extensive clinical experience and leading research achievements, Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital has further solidified its foundation for providing top-tier medical services.
