Jinju City Organizes Korea Aerospace Industries Tour for Gyeongnam Science High School Students

Pilot Project for Special Educational Development Zone
Opportunities for Field Trips to Leading Aerospace Companies
and Career Exploration Experiences

Jinju City in Gyeongnam Province announced on July 23 that it had organized a tour of a leading local company, KAI (Korea Aerospace Industries), for 65 third-year students from Gyeongnam Science High School.

This tour was part of the pilot project for the Special Educational Development Zone. The students visited KAI, a key defense industry company that manufactures domestic aircraft, where they were able to observe aircraft design and production facilities firsthand. This provided them with a valuable opportunity to understand the region's strategic industries and foster pride in their local community.

An official from Jinju City stated, "Since Jinju was selected as a pilot area for the Special Educational Development Zone last year, we have been operating a variety of aerospace workforce development and youth career support programs, including special lectures at high schools on aerospace, career experience programs at aerospace universities, and corporate-linked programs in the aerospace sector. Through these initiatives, we are committed to nurturing local talent and ultimately establishing a foundation that enables young people to settle in the region."

Meanwhile, the Special Educational Development Zone is a policy in which local governments, education offices, universities, local companies, and public institutions collaborate to comprehensively support educational innovation, the development of local talent, and settlement in the region. Jinju City plans to carry out related projects for three years until 2026, after which it is expected to be officially designated as a Special Educational Development Zone based on an evaluation of its achievements.
