Providing Quality Jobs and Revitalizing the Local Arts and Culture Ecosystem
In order to provide high-quality jobs for young artists and to invigorate the local arts and culture ecosystem, the Daejeon Art Choir, the nation's first youth professional arts group operated by a local government, held a successful inaugural concert.
On July 22, the Daejeon Art Choir demonstrated its presence at its inaugural concert held at the Grand Theater of the Daejeon Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center, elevating the status of Daejeon as a cultural city with the passionate energy of young artists.
This establishment was propelled by being selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's "2025 Regional Representative Arts Organization Support Project." In April, the choir held its founding ceremony after selecting vocalists under the age of 39 with local ties as members.
Han Juhee, principal soprano, said, "It is a great honor to be part of the founding members of the Daejeon Art Choir, a group full of youth and music. Starting with this stage, we will strive to become a choir that delivers even deeper resonance," adding, "I hope there will be more opportunities for young people to engage in musical activities in the future."
Kim Myungi, artistic director, stated, "This inaugural concert was meaningful as it allowed us to communicate and breathe together with local residents. Above all, it is a great joy that a stage has been created for young vocalists to showcase their talents," adding, "Going forward, this youthful passion will serve as a solid foundation for the local arts and culture scene through continuous practice and performances."
