Prime Minister to Review Progress in Video Conference on 23rd Morning To review the preparations for the APEC Summit, Prime Minister Kim Minseok, who visited Gyeongju on the 11th, will hold another video conference chaired by the Prime Minister at 10 a.m. on the 23rd to reexamine the status of facility preparations in Gyeongju.

The banquet hall being constructed on the grounds of the National Gyeongju Museum currently has a completion rate of 35%. Gyeongju City plans to finish the main construction by September and, after about a month of trial operations, aims to provide the optimal environment for the summit.

Since winning the bid in June last year, Gyeongju City, together with North Gyeongsang Province, has formed a joint APEC preparation support team. They are accelerating the development of key infrastructure such as the summit venue, media center, and banquet hall through the enactment of support ordinances and the allocation of reserve funds.

The city is also busy securing accommodation infrastructure by conducting a survey of local lodging facilities and participating in joint inspections with the government.

Gyeongju City estimates that about 20,000 people, including leaders and delegations from the 21 member economies, journalists, and business representatives, will visit Gyeongju, and anticipates that up to 7,700 rooms will be needed per day.

In particular, regarding the PRS (Presidential-level Residences), which had been a major concern, the city has prepared a total of 35 facilities by adding 9 new sites and 10 semi-PRS facilities to the existing 16. The current remodeling progress rate stands at 70%.

Gyeongju City, together with North Gyeongsang Province, has signed agreements with Lotte Hotel, the Korea Concierge Association, and others, and is also conducting training for staff at general accommodations to provide the highest level of service.

In this regard, Prime Minister Kim Minseok, who visited Gyeongju on the 11th to check the APEC Summit preparations, is scheduled to hold another video conference chaired by the Prime Minister at 10 a.m. on the 23rd to reexamine the status of facility preparations in Gyeongju.
