Contains Six Times More "Golden Chlorella" Than the Original Kongdambaekmyeon
Daesang Cheongjeongwon announced on the 23rd that it has launched 'Kongdambaekmyeon Gold,' a healthier version of its alternative noodle product featuring 'Golden Chlorella.'
Cheongjeongwon's 'Kongdambaekmyeon,' first introduced by Daesang in 2021, is an alternative noodle made from soy milk, the first of its kind in Korea. It has gained popularity for its lower calorie content compared to wheat noodles and its convenient preparation method, which does not require boiling. In fact, 'Kongdambaekmyeon' recorded an average annual sales growth rate of about 106% from its launch through last year, and sales in the first half of this year increased by approximately 41% compared to the same period last year.
The new product contains about six times more Golden Chlorella than the previous plain noodle version. Golden Chlorella was independently developed by Daesang, which possesses microalgae cultivation technology, and is notable for containing a variety of nutrients such as plant-based protein, dietary fiber, zinc, amino acids, and vitamins. Its vibrant golden-yellow color also provides a visually appealing effect when added to food.
Each 150g pack of 'Kongdambaekmyeon Gold' contains 30 kcal and is gluten-free, sugar-free, high in dietary fiber, and certified by The Keto Project Verification, minimizing the burden of carbohydrate and sugar intake. The dietary fiber content is 13.3g per 100 kcal, meeting the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety's standards for high-fiber products.
The new 'Kongdambaekmyeon Gold' will first be available at Emart Traders, and will gradually be rolled out to online channels such as Coupang, Market Kurly, and the Cheongjeongwon Naver Brand Store.
Yoon Jungwon, Head of Frozen Convenience Foods at Daesang, said, "'Kongdambaekmyeon Gold,' made even more visually appetizing with Golden Chlorella, will be an excellent choice for consumers seeking a light, convenient, and healthy meal option. We will continue to expand our lineup of alternative noodles with more diverse and upgraded products, leveraging Cheongjeongwon's unique soy milk noodle manufacturing technology."
Meanwhile, Cheongjeongwon's 'Kongdambaekmyeon' lineup now includes a total of eight products: six convenient meal kits with sauces (Bibim Guksu, Dongchimi Naengguksu, Goso-han Kongguksu, Anchovy Guksu, Vietnamese-style Guksu, and Spicy Jjajangmyeon), the plain noodle, and the newly launched 'Kongdambaekmyeon Gold.'
