The city of Seongnam in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sangjin) reported that the overall citizen satisfaction score for the 1,000 sets of street trash bins (each set consisting of a 75-liter general waste bin and a 75-liter recycling bin), which were reintroduced and installed throughout the city for the first time in 30 years, was 86.3 points.

Seongnam City Records 86.3 Points in Street Trash Bin Satisfaction Survey: Positive Response for Convenience and Cleanliness A street trash bin installed in Yeosu-dong, Jungwon-gu, Seongnam-si. Provided by Seongnam-si.

Seongnam City announced on the 23rd that it had commissioned With Research, an academic research and survey institution, to conduct an on-site survey from June 4 to June 7. The survey targeted 331 citizens who had experience using the street trash bins installed at bus and subway stations and produced these results.

The overall satisfaction score (86.3 points) was calculated by applying the Public Customer Satisfaction Index (PCSI 2.0) model, converting the analysis of responses to 11 questions across 5 categories into a score out of 100 points.

By category, the score for social responsibility regarding the installation and operation of street trash bins was 87.4 points. The score for overall satisfaction was 86.6 points, and the score for service quality was 86.3 points.

When asked if they intended to continue using the street trash bins, 212 people (64.0%) responded that they would, indicating a positive perception of citizen convenience and policy effectiveness.

Suggestions from citizens regarding the operation of the street trash bins included: expanding installations, strengthening cleanliness management, increasing bin capacity, and introducing separate disposal functions.

Seongnam City plans to install an additional 500 sets of street trash bins by October.

At the same time, recognizing the growing importance of maintenance and management of the street trash bins, the city intends to systematically manage surrounding cleanliness and collection status through a contracted service provider.

This survey was conducted to raise awareness of Seongnam City's ten major projects and to improve citizen satisfaction.

The survey had a confidence level of 95%, with a margin of error of ±5.39 percentage points.

In a previous social survey of 1,590 households conducted in August last year, the proportion of respondents who rated their overall satisfaction with life as "average or above" was 93.16%.

Mayor Shin Sangjin of Seongnam stated, "Basic infrastructure such as street trash bins provides direct convenience to citizens' daily lives and helps create a cleaner street environment," adding, "This is the reason for the high satisfaction survey results."
