Gyeonggi Province will conduct a provincial resident vote on citizen-proposed projects.
On July 23, Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that it will hold an online vote from July 24 to August 3 to evaluate the "2025 Resident Participatory Budget Citizen-Proposed Projects."
This vote allows residents to directly determine the ranking of outstanding proposals. Any resident of Gyeonggi Province can participate through the Gyeonggi Province public opinion survey website (survey.gg.go.kr).
Earlier, by April, Gyeonggi Province had collected a total of 765 citizen proposals through a public call for project ideas. After departmental review and deliberation, 77 projects totaling 23.6 billion KRW were selected as citizen-proposed projects.
The current online vote is being conducted to determine the priority for budget allocation. The final priority will be determined by combining 80% of the committee evaluation scores, including those from the Resident Participatory Budget Committee, and 20% from the online resident vote.
The final selection of projects will be confirmed at the plenary meeting of the Gyeonggi Province Resident Participatory Budget Committee on August 8, and the selected projects will be reflected in the 2026 budget.
Park Sunghwan, Gyeonggi Province's budget officer, stated, "Voting for the Resident Participatory Budget is an important opportunity for residents to directly participate in the budget formulation process and realize democracy." He added, "We hope many residents will participate in the vote so that residents themselves can fairly evaluate the projects and ensure that essential projects for the community are selected."
