Jang Jaehyung, the head of the Daegu City New Public Officials Labor Union, revealed on July 22 that there is a parking lot at Daegu City Hall that is accessible only to a privileged group.

On this day, through his Facebook page, Jang stated, "The underground parking lot at the Daegu City Hall Dongin Office Building is reserved for their exclusive privileges," and added, "While ordinary public officials have to pay a monthly parking fee of 100,000 won and park their cars in external private parking lots, those with special privileges park for free in the underground parking lot at the Daegu City Hall Dongin Office Building."

Jang went on to say, "Those who park for free in the underground parking lot include Daegu City Hall directors, bureau chiefs, division heads, labor union representatives, executives, accredited reporters, and general contractors. I am also one of them, and I must reflect on this."

Daegu City officials commented, "Citizens visiting City Hall for civil affairs can park in the public parking lot in front of the Daegu City Hall Dongin Office Building. While they can park for free for one hour when handling civil affairs, it often takes at least 20 minutes, and sometimes as long as 30 to 40 minutes or more, just to find a parking spot."
