Soonchunhyang University Gumi Hospital (Director: Min Kyungdae) has achieved the highest rating of Grade 1 in the '6th Pneumonia Appropriateness Assessment' conducted by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, marking its sixth consecutive Grade 1 rating since the first assessment.
This achievement demonstrates the hospital's consistent provision of excellent medical services throughout the entire process of pneumonia treatment.
This assessment was conducted on medical institutions nationwide that treated inpatients aged 18 or older for pneumonia from October 2023 to March 2024. The evaluation covered a total of five criteria: the rate of oxygen saturation testing, the rate of using severity assessment tools, the rate of prescribing sputum culture tests, the rate of conducting blood culture tests before the first antibiotic administration, and the rate of appropriate first antibiotic administration within eight hours.
Soonchunhyang University Gumi Hospital achieved perfect scores of 100 in key indicators such as oxygen saturation testing, use of severity assessment tools, and conducting blood culture tests before antibiotic administration. The hospital also received a comprehensive score of 99, significantly surpassing the overall average of 82.9 points for all medical institutions, and earned the highest grade.
Director Min Kyungdae stated, "This assessment result is a valuable achievement made possible by the hospital's efforts toward standardizing care and ensuring patient safety. We will continue to play a pivotal role in treating infectious diseases, including pneumonia, and strive to become a hospital that is even more trusted by the local community."
