President Lee Jaemyung declared six areas affected by heavy rainfall as special disaster zones on July 22.
Kang Yujeong, spokesperson for the presidential office, stated in a written briefing that at approximately 6:44 p.m. on this day, President Lee designated Gapyeong in Gyeonggi Province, Seosan and Yesan in South Chungcheong Province, Damyang in South Jeolla Province, and Sancheong and Hapcheon in South Gyeongsang Province as special disaster zones as a priority.
Local governments designated as special disaster zones will receive additional national funding for disaster recovery. Residents in the affected areas will be eligible for support measures such as deferred payment of national and local taxes, as well as reductions in public utility fees.
