The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on July 22 that it had held a meeting with beneficiary companies selected for the shared facility improvement support project, which is part of the '2025 Automotive Industry Win-Win Cooperation Expansion Support Project.'

The meeting took place on July 21 in the conference room on the third floor of the Chamber of Commerce building. More than 30 people attended, including executives and employees from 17 Hyundai and Kia partner companies in the Gwangju area that were selected as beneficiaries, as well as representatives from related organizations. During the event, the details of the project were introduced, challenges faced by companies at the field level were heard, and practical support measures were discussed.

In addition, explanations were provided about various support programs that companies can utilize, in cooperation with the Gwangju Economic Promotion Win-Win Job Foundation, the Gwangju Employers Federation, and the Korea Labor Foundation. These included support for the production of promotional videos, the Youth Growth Project (workplace adaptation support), and the middle-aged career support system.

This 'Shared Facility Improvement Support Project' is part of the 'Regional and Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project' supported by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Gwangju City. Its aim is to address the dual structure issue and alleviate workforce shortages. For the companies that are finally selected, a subsidy of 4.5 million to 9 million won per company will be provided for the costs required to improve shared facilities such as restrooms and workspaces.

A representative of the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated, "We expect this support project to improve poor working environments and increase employee satisfaction," and added, "We will continue to work to narrow the welfare gap and resolve the dual structure and workforce shortages through various support projects in the future."

Meanwhile, the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry is taking the lead in stabilizing employment in the local automotive industry and addressing the dual structure issue by providing a 'Leap Incentive' of 600,000 won per month, up to a maximum of 3.6 million won per year, to companies that hire new employees aged 35 to 59; a 'Settlement Support Fund' of 1 million won each for three and six months of continuous service, up to a maximum of 2 million won per year, to new employees aged 18 to 59; and supporting health checkup expenses for current employees (300,000 won per person).
