Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province is accepting nominations for candidates for the 37th Gwangmyeong Citizen Award until August 29. The Gwangmyeong Citizen Award is presented to individuals or organizations who have devoted themselves to the development and honor of the city in various sectors of the local community.
Eligible nominees are individuals or organizations who have actively contributed to the development of the local community through volunteer activities in various fields. Any Gwangmyeong citizen, except for themselves, is free to make a nomination.
As of July 21, candidates must have resided continuously in Gwangmyeong for at least the past three years, or be individuals or organizations operating a business (or workplace) within the city. The city plans to select the awardees in September and present the awards at the Gwangmyeong Citizens' Day ceremony scheduled for October.
Citizens wishing to make a nomination can download the nomination form from the notice section of the Gwangmyeong City Hall website, complete it, and submit it along with the required documents either in person to the General Affairs Division of Gwangmyeong City Hall or by mail.
Since 1989, the city has selected recipients of the Gwangmyeong Citizen Award across seven categories. Since 2019, the award categories have been consolidated, and three recipients are selected and honored each year. As of last year, 140 individuals and 3 organizations have received the award.
