Announcement of Accounting Reports for Parties and Candidates
in the 21st Presidential Election by the National Election Commission
The National Election Commission announced on July 22 that the total amount of election expenses incurred by each party and candidate in the 21st presidential election was approximately 103.33 billion won.
According to the accounting reports on the income and expenditure of political funds by the seven parties, candidates (including withdrawn candidates and their affiliated parties), and supporters' associations that participated in the 21st presidential election, Lee Jae Myung of the Democratic Party of Korea spent 53.517 billion won, and Kim Moon Soo of the People Power Party spent 44.996 billion won.
Lee Jun Seok of the Reform New Party spent 2.836 billion won, while Kwon Young Guk of the Democratic Labor Party spent 990 million won. In order to receive full reimbursement of election expenses, a candidate must obtain at least 15% of the total valid votes. Lee Jae Myung received 49.42% and Kim received 41.15%, so both will be fully reimbursed for their election expenses.

During this period, anyone may view or request copies of accounting reports and related documents, such as the income and expenditure records of political funds submitted by preliminary candidates, parties, or supporters' associations. Anyone with objections may file a complaint by attaching supporting documents.
The National Election Commission explained that it will focus on investigating violations such as false reporting and illegal expenditures, including the intentional understatement or omission of election expenses and political funds, and will take strict action.
