President Lee Requests Resubmission of Kang Sunwoo's Confirmation Report by the 24th... Appointment Process Begins Yonhap News

Presidential spokesperson Kang Yujeong announced during a briefing at the Yongsan presidential office that the National Assembly was asked to resend the confirmation hearing reports for Kang Sunwoo, Ahn Kyubaek (nominee for Minister of National Defense), Kwon Oeul (nominee for Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs), and Chung Dongyoung (nominee for Minister of Unification) by July 24.

Spokesperson Kang explained, "The deadline for resending the confirmation reports was set for July 24, taking into account Article 6 of the Confirmation Hearing Act, which stipulates the period for resubmission requests, past precedents, and the fact that the deadline requested by the nominees for Minister of National Defense and Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs falls on Saturday, the 26th of this week."

According to the Confirmation Hearing Act, the National Assembly must complete the confirmation hearing within 20 days of receiving the request. If the confirmation report is not adopted within this period, the president may request resubmission within a specified period of up to 10 days. If the report is still not adopted within the resubmission period, the president may appoint the ministerial nominee.
